A
New Option For Tires - Nitrogen...
Nitrogen in tires is an excellent replacement for standard
air. Nitrogen is all around us... the air we breathe
is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and the rest is small amounts
of other gasses. When it comes to tire inflation, nitrogen
has many advantages over oxygen. With nitrogen tire
inflation, improvements can be noted in a vehicle's
handling, fuel efficiency and tire life through better
tire pressure retention, improved fuel economy and cooler
running tire temperatures.
It's
All About Proper Tire Pressure:
The
simplest and easiest maintenance item of keeping tires
properly inflated is easy to overlook. Tire Presure
Monitoring Systems are now making this task easier for
us; however, we're now more aware when tires pressure
drops and often on cold mornings the sensors will signal
warnings due to the fact that normal air is more sensitive
to cold temperature.
Additional
Benefits of Nitrogen include:
- Maintaining
proper tire pressure longer - Air leaks out of tires
at 3-4 times faster than Nitrogen
- Improved
fuel economy - the average vehicle will see a 4% improvement
in gas mileage
- Longer
tire life - the #1 reason for tire replacemetn is
improper inflation - tires will lose about 1 PSI per
month with Air
